The RC series barometric is a cheap model made for manufacturers. Get the Model "M" barometric and this shouldn't happen.

My Barometric damper has seen better days. Its swinging past its stopper and getting stuck open causing my Boiler to go bang in the night.

I have been reading up on these little boogers and Id like to get one that doesnt suck. It seems to me that the primary purpose for it is to remain closed when the boiler is not firing and then open, hopefulkly the exact amount required when the boiler fires to compensate for an overdraft condition created by the chimney.

My current one is the RC from

    http://www.fieldcontrols.com/draft.controls.html

    Is there a better unit?

Also, Im getting a draft down my chimney in the wind when the boiler is off. That cant be good. Will a chimney cap help with this?
