    Antique space heaters

A year ago I posted some pics of some old space heaters that I got from a house being gut/rehabed. Well a few months ago I had two of them restored. They were completly taken apart, sand blasted, painted and re nickled.

    Those look great

What was the cost to do the refurb and have you fired on up yet?
  • Beautiful, but...

deadly. Those appear to be an unvented appliance,no?

If so, I wouldn't suggest you consider using them any where inside of a dwelling.

They'd probably work OK on an outside porch, where there is plenty of air, but not inside.

There's also a slight issue with a lack of 100% safety shut off for pilot light.

I had a customer who had done something similar to this with a converted pot belly stove. I refused to fire the unit, and in fact disconnected the unit from his gas service and documented it with digital pictures.

Don't take carbon monoxide lightly...It WILL kill you.

    Nice restoration work though...
