Description:
hot water system, convector rads, new Hoffman #54 auto air vents
house is 70' x 30' 2 floors + basement
boiler approx. 140mbh, mediocre install, supply 1", return 1 1/4", circ. on return, hoping to correct in the spring/summer.
old system, 1 1/2" supply manifold with twelve 3/8" copper tubing runs, one for each convector rad. same for the return.
Taco 007 circ was there before. Changed to a BG100, and only 1/2 of the rads get hot(same thing).
What did I miss?

Did you power purge each loop? I ask because it sounds like an air problem.

    air

Did you get all the air out ?What pressure is the system under? Are the convector valves open? Most are butterfly valves .....Are they just spinning with bent stops?

There are stop and waste valves on the return manifold. There is 20#'s at 180 deg. I will try power purging it. I was hoping the Hoffman 54's would do the trick, but the 3/8" tubing could have a lot of dips. Will try a BG 36 if all else fails, but I don't want to be an example in Dan H.'s next book about some poor slob who instinctively oversizes the circulator.
