thanks for your help. I solved the problem with a idek isolation relay. I didn't want to use a 8184g, just incase the control craps out again. Once again thank for your help.

powerventer issue--
The customer has complained that since we replaced a r8184g with a carlin 40200 that the fieldcontrol powerventer is running continuously- What I have found is that the 40200 has 6v out the orange wire- when tt is not calling for heat. is that enough voltage to trip the powerventer on again? I have tried a new 40200 and have gotten the same result. My company doesn't carry 8184s and rather not buy one and find out that it won't solve the problem.0 -

No it's not enough, but is the ventor shutting down in the first place? The #'s dont mean anything, valtage and set up would help.. I do not have manuals in my head to cross reff. the problem. Is your relay opening? TT that is usually a lo vac circuit, Can you draw and post a wiring diagram of how it is currently hooked up?0 -
more info
The system is a Rheem forced hot air- oil fired- The powerventer does shut down but 20 seconds later it starts up again. The relay in the p/v is 24v/120v.
I'll see what I can do about a wire diagram.

wiring diagram
this is how it is wired minus the vacuum switch- which comes off t1 (120vac)and switches power to t3(120vac)
thanks for your help-0 -

I'm not sure that the 2 controllers are the same. I did a cross ref. at Honeywell.com and there seems to be a diference. Check ou the site and see what you think. The only thing that will bring on your ventor motor is when the "TT treminals are closed. At least that in the Honeywell control. Some have a post purge, some do not.

Change control
The problem is the Carlin controls will perform a self-check as long as they are powered up, power to black wire on FWA and steam systems with thermostat as operating limit. When the control does a self test it will spike approx 80 volts on the orange wire for a split second, you can't see this with a digital meter, test with an analog and you'll see the needle go up. The typical wiring has the orange wire going up to call the power venter on and this voltage is enough to pull in the relay causing the motor to start and then run in post purge due to the solid state post purge timer in the venter.
Your options are to change the control and go back to an R8184G or to install an isolation relay between the burner and power venter. This also occurred with the 60200 controls on FHW and required a re-routing from the aquastat (B1) to the power venter then to the burner.0 -

He is correct been there and done that. Honeywell or isolation relay. 8184 is easier! DArren0 -
