Unless the boiler is equipped with a designated tapping in the dome or top of the boiler or unless the boiler is fitted with a supply tree (such as our MPO boiler) with a designated tapping, the LWCO needs to be in the supply pipe as close to the top of the boiler as possible with no service valve in between. As far as the voltage is concerned, we have begun stating in our manuals the we would desire a 120v model in all cases so as not to interrupt or cut into the internal wiring harness of the boiler. It should be wired into the 120v feed to the boiler in all instances except of course steam boilers where it is an integral part of the boiler. Hope this helps.

LWCO Wiring
Glenn, I understand the manufacturer's may not like it, but I am EXTREMELY reluctant to interrupt the 120v supply to the boiler in upstate NY just so we don't disturb the wiring harness.
If the LWCO locks out on a nuisance call I'd like to keep the circ moving water to help prevent a freeze up. We do use the 120v LWCOs exclusively but we break the burner circuitry just before the gas valve.
Why do the boiler manufacturers want it done otherwise?0 -
LWCO Wiring
The reasoning involves safety and liability issues involved in disturbing the wiring harness. I'm sure that you are above the bar as far as understanding the internal boiler wiring. However that may not be the case with many electricians and and others out there.
