vapor vacuum systems

If steam makes it back that far, then perhaps either too many radiators are off or the pressure's too high (should be less than 8 ounces pressure). If you add a condensate pump, you'll need an F&T trap to keep the steam out of the pump. Others here will have more suggestions.

broomwell mechanical trap
I have a broomwell mechanical trap on vapor vacuum system that the guts inside are missing and steam is escaping from the trap. Would anyone know what to replace it with? I am replacing the boiler and would like to know if a condensate pump could replace the broomwell mechanical trap.0 -
Is that an old Broomell regulator
with a sight glass on the side, and a scale graduated in ounces?

broomell
Yes this is a broomell regulator that someone had taken the ball out of. I am trying to find out what to replace it with when I change the boiler. You can see what I have if you click on library from the home page and go to steam vapor vacuum heat then go to bromell system page 5.0 -
You can leave it there
it also serves as the vent for the dry returns. Originally the vent went into the chimney thru a condensing radiator. If you remove the regulator, you will have to install vents on the dry returns- BIG vents!
