RPA Chapter meeting

I attended the monthly meeting of the Eastern Michigan Chapter of the RPA last night. It was a good turnout of about 15 people. The speaker talked about different tubing installations.
I got the feeling that the people there were really interested in the topic and have a genuine interest in the radiant heat trade. But like most other groups I have visited over the years, the mindset is on what is happening locally. That's fine -- but I think it helps when a regional or national "presence" is brought in to talk with members.
I know that budgets are tight and people don't always like "gratis" work, but it seems to me that a visit from a national board member on occasion would stir up more interest -- and publicity for the group. Heck, it may even bring in some "crossovers" from other groups. A good friend of mine has been doing a lot of big radiant jobs in the last few years and he has traditionally been a scorched air guy.
There is a lot that can be done. I'll do my best by bringing these stories to The News -- but I just feel there is something lacking in getting interest in radiant "over the hump."
