4 zone Friday
that have to be done on Friday . This was on a beautiful estate in Cold Spring Harbor , NY . It was a 4 section Arco I think , and 4 zones . The boiler was a soot bomb .
I'm starting to get spoiled with these basements .

V85 and Riello
I was amazed at how quiet the unit runs . The homeowner requested we lift the boiler up because the basement floods alot . Not sure why they didn't go for an indirect , but we left a tapping on the header in case they go that route .
It was a tag team effort - Sal piped the return and the flue , Paul did the wiring and burner , and I piped the header and oil lines . Bob and the tank crew got there in the PM to install the oil tank and help us remove the old beast . If you notice in the pic , the fill and vent pipes go up on an angle . The tank was tapped crooked . Stuff like that can throw off the look of a whole job , but the homeowner didn't mind .0 -
Nice Job, Ron
Good work!!....How about an indirect DHW tank? It would save the homeowner some significant oil costs for a 2nd burner.

Not sure
why we didn't install one . We do see alot more leaking indirects than the average around here . My neighbor is going on his 4th Phase 3 . Our company switched to the real heavy , glass lined Megastor , gotta wait and see how they work out .
The Bock had a 1986 date on it so yesterday would've been a good time to change it . Thank you Paul .0 -
per the norm
again nice job Ron. Just a thought, have you given thought to using the isolator flanges? I have used them and they dress a boiler up nicely. Just a thought...:)0 -
nice straight work.
i'm Big on Simple straight tidy and true:)0 -
Hi Ron
Another great job. We've been real busy doing 3-4 boilers a week and a tank or hwh here and there. I just got a computer at work and will be getting a camera soon. If you saw Dan's post, you know that we're having a Lost Art Seminar up here on the 18th, this is only $40 but I would be glad to pickup your fee and dinner if you can get up here. It's only about an hour from the Whitestone bridge in Newburgh. Did you meet our service manager John Finn? he was just down on the island doing flat rate training. I'm going to show some of these pictures to my guys tomorow. Why do you guys mount all your oil filters like that? It doesn't look that sturdy. I like the ex-long pipe nipple with the air vent, how's that been working? How long did that take and how many guys did you have? Anyway my new e-mail will be tschliphack@wallaceoil.com It wasn't working today but I think it will be fixed tomorrow. If it doesn't go through reply here. See ya Todd0 -
Ron is
The king of straight, tidy and true !!
Nice work as always Ron.
Its nice to be able to stand up huh ? .
You'll get spoiled and start getting mad when you do the kitchen job again.
You coming to ISH ?? There's a seat on the bus for ya ! Chris will be there.
As always thanks for showing everyone how its done.
Scott

Hey Todd
Good to hear things are booming up there . I'd love to go and see Dan again at that seminar , I'll ask my manager about it . I didn't get to meet John - we're out the gates by 8:30 am and usually don't come back to the shop . Will he be making the rounds agan down here ?
The oil filter mount is pretty sturdy as is . Actually , the filter will stay in place even with the oil line disconnected . We point the setup back so it has a resting spot near the boiler in case anyone knocks into it . We did cap the line with cement later , as per the wacky code .
There were 3 of us installing the boiler , and we split the old one and pushed it to the side . The oil tank crew came later , around 1:30 to do the tank and they helped us heave the old sections . We started around 9 and finished at 4:30 .
With the long nipple for an air elminator , I'm not sure how it's working out yet . I get different feedback from almost everyone I talk to about it . I was toying with the idea of using a 3/4 brass tee , nipple , ell and air eliminator , to be used with the relief valve in the 3/4 hole on top - in conjuction with the main air eliminator we use . I'm not sure how Burnham or the code authority would feel about it . All of this is a moot point if the boiler is piped right and purged of air completely on initial fill up . Thanks Todd , hope to meet you soon .0 -
Yes , the iso flanges
were brought up again , but if our main supplier doesn't stock them , we won't get em . I've asked for the flanges , 1/2 inch ball valve boiler drains , pressure reducers with a sweat inlet , premade manifolds , Taco IFCs . I could imagine how much time we could save with premade manifolds , IFCs and iso flanges - I'd guess on a 4 zone boiler maybe an hour , hour and a half ? Thank you 1chmb .0 -
I got cursed
with a hanging GE yesterday . Not fun is the best phrase to describe em . This type of a job , although filthy and heavy , is a great change of pace . What is this ISH I always hear about ? I'd love to go , if I have no prior plans . When and where ? Thanks Scott . And P.S. I forgot to say it - Happy Belated Birthday ! So how old are you ?0 -
We are too
Simple , straight and working good . Someday I want to get my hands on that new fangled equipment I see showcased here though . Thanks Weezbo .0 -
