Friction loss
Chris Spannagel
Member Posts: 9
My Name is Chris Spannagel. I am not new to hydronics, but am relativley new to designing a system. I was in need of friction loss in various sized pipes, in a chart or some form. I would be happy to buy a book, but am at a loss as too which will best suite my needs. It seems since I started my own business in OCT of 2003, I'm finding out how much I relly don't know:) Anyway I would be greatful for some input, and the best way for me to get some "real", and good education in hydronic heating. Thanks for your time
Chris

Grundfos..........
has everything you need in their circulator sizing and spec book. Now, if I could just remember what they call it. Anyone?
Also, B&G's System Sizer will tell you all you need to know.

Here is my favorite.
I'm in this book once a week. I wouldn't be without it.

Grundfos ...
...Plumbing/Heating Handbook, they used to call it. I have one from 1991 with nice big charts/tables for us older guys.0 -
Money well spent
would be Siegenthalers "Hydronic Design Studio" a lifetime investment that continually gets updated and added to. Check "books and more" to the left here for this priceless and simple to use software.
I learned a lot just going through every module!

Pressure drops
You can also get some 'freeware' or 'shareware' online. Try searching 'pipe-drop' or other software. IPEX also puts out some good heat loss and system design software (Still free me thinks).0 -
I thought..............
that as a member of the Grundfos Plus group, we are supposed to receive pertinent software and info an all of the new goodies. As always, I'm wrong. I'll have to bug someone at Grundfos, like Rich C., to get this stuff.

friction chart
the best for my money is B&G's system syzer. I keep the slide rule one next to my monitor. You can download one of these newfangled soft ware ones free at B&G's web site it's even better than the slide rule. I can't seem to remember it's on my computer)) bob0
