"eye candy "for a chimney liner

I just finished a burnham es26 installation. The chimney liner was a real tough one with three offsets in it.All told with breaking the chimney etc the job went a little longer than expected but thats fine things happen.Anyway i was in my supply house and was telling the counter guy about the chimney over a cup of coffee.Next thing a plumber from a reputable company started laughing at my situation."Out here he says(long island) when we come across a problem like that we put a section of liner down from the top.We slide that down until it hits the offset. We then insert a piece coming out of the chimney into the boiler room.Eye candy, home owner has no idea.Anyone ever heard of this before,Im still having problems believing guys are doing this.

    Ugh!

He shouldn't be allowed to be in business. There is no excuse for that kind of ignorance. We hear that a lot from fly by night chimney companies.

    call the inspector

Tell the inspector what they said.

We don't need companies like that.

    Agreed

I've heard of this being done and it wasn't just on troublesome offset chimneys also, a few do it on all of their installs.  Vile disgusting villains!

We had a great chimney guy, Tom DePaula of All About Chimneys (may he be Blessed).

    We miss him terribly!

    sad to say

Seen it a couple times out here in scorched air country. Pretty sad, leaves the HO unprotected or worse. Usually dealers don't bother to even try.
