Homeowner's version of Pumping Away.
These photos show you a homeowner's version of pumping away. The installation is in an old farmhouse near Pittsburgh, PA. The house is three stories and all radiators. It is insulated, though, and has storms. The boiler did pass a gas company inspection three years ago when I first installed it. Supply main and both returns near boiler are inch and one-quarter. The throttle valve is left wide open. I set the tank at 18 psi static, and get 16 psi before the circulator and 19 psi after the throttle valve when it is running. Yes, I know about the electrical and heating code violations. Think you can quickly find them all? This old boiler replaced an even older coal stoker boiler that had been converted to natural gas by the previous owner. It had an insulating jacket of you-know-what. No, don't ask....0 -

Homeowner's version of Pumping Away.
These two photos show you a homeowner's version of pumping away. It is very quiet and gives plenty of heat upstairs. The installation is in an old farmhouse near Pittsburgh, PA. The house is three stories and has all radiators. It is insulated and has storms. This used boiler did pass a gas company inspection three years ago when I first installed it. Supply main and both returns near boiler are inch and one-quarter. The throttle valve is left wide open. I set the tank at 18 psi static, and get 16 psi before the circulator and 19 psi after the throttle valve when it is running. I know about the electrical and heating code violations. I know because I deliberately built them in. This boiler replaced an even older coal stoker boiler that had been converted to natural gas by the previous owner. That one had an insulating jacket of you-know-what. No, don't even ask....0
