Bucket traps are letting steam by

The traps need a prime seal. How are they sized? Inverted bucket traps I assume? They work best under continuous loading. For intermittent loads an F&T trap is recommended.

Bucket traps are constantly letting steam by
We installed a new WM Steam boiler, and replaced all the old bucket traps. Now I have a problem with steam bypassing the traps and venting out the condensate tank to the outside. With the price of oil we can't have this. The traps work if I shut the thermostat off, wait for the motorized head to close the valve, and reopen it. Is there some kind of suction, or vacuum going on? Please help if you can.0
