Try 1 800 724 2293 Ask for Omar. He is a rep for a supply house in Oneonta. He will be able to give you a few names in your area. Call him around 8:00 or you will miss him. If he is not there ask for Dennis. Tell them David Francis passed on the phone number.
My wife and I have spent many hours fishing in and around Walton. Did the covered bridges surive the flood ?

Replacement for a lennox hot air furnace
Our basement located in upstate ny was flooded with 6 feet of water. The furnace worked fine up until this. Searching this website I have ascertained that it is now unsafe. I would like to replace it with something comprable. Can you reccommend or point me in the right direction for a brand or what I should look for in a Hot Air gas furnace?

fuel cost
Go with the top of the line brand that the dealer near you sells and feels comfortable with. I say top because the fuel costs, gas and electric are now really significant. So, a 94% type, 2 or variable input AND a DC type blower motor will save you a meaningful amount of cash, especially on the electric bill. Get the 10yr parts and labor warranty as the parts are really expensive.0 -
Don't forget
your water heater. I assume that has been under water too. My understanding is that any fuel burning appliance that has been under water needs to be replaced or at the least, needs the gas valve etc. replaced. Have a professional look at your situation. Best of luck.0 -
Any equipment
that has been underwater should be replaced.0 -
try hydronic
What about their comfort????
The first thing I would ask is the home owners level of comfort, then their concerns.

I am glad to see you are doing the right thing , By replacing your flooded equipment. I am also in Upstate NY and we were hit by the flod as well.
Depending where you are located.
One thing to consider when choosing equipment is replacement parts down the road. My advice is to make sure you have more the one outlet for service and parts in the future.

Hi,
Thanks for all of your responses. Well here it is October and we still have no heat. It's getting pretty cold up there and apparently the "heating people" (and I use that term loosely) think that because my home is not our primary home. We don't deserve to have heat. I had one company (AUCHINACHIE in Oneonta) call me up to make an appointment (just for an estimate mind you)and then call me back five minutes later to cancel because they thought that I didn't deserve to have heat. We have been working on this house for four years and just finished putting in all new plumbing. They said that they could send someone to winterize the house but couldn't send someone to do an estimate ????
I am not asking for a free ride here just to be put on a list and given a date (even as far off as December) as to when they could come. Sorry for the vent but I am really angry. I have been trying to get someone since July 1st and I am angry and frustrated.

for the ultimate comfort...
Rheem/Ruud's Modulating 90+ model has 13 stages of heat that can blow away the heating comfort of a standard 2 stage regardless of brand. The blower varies to maintain a hot 65 degree temp rise regardless of firing rate. The perfect furnace for a cold climate!0 -
Karen.....Keep trying.
If I were located near you, I would jump at the opportunity to try and make you happy. At least guide you even if I do not get the job... That's what a Professional does!!!;-) Win some lose some. Did you try the "Find a Pro" at the top of this page? Help the customer and the money will come. Unfortunately some think that if the job doesn't sound like a profitable one they will pass you by. Hope you have better luck soon.
Respectfully: Mike T. Empire Mechanical.
PS. Tim McElwain,...Can you E-Mail me a list of your training materials and costs? We are fortunatly able to have been chosen to grade the kid's in the HAVC program at Erie 1 Boces program on their final practical exam and I would like to present the instructor with a list of your material for future training.
Thanks Mike T.0 -
Thanks Mike,
Yes I did try that link and the nearest professional was 54 miles away. It's not a money thing as much as a who you know thing. We are willing to pay for services rendered (I even went so far to offer one guy cash) I am getting so desperate that I am even considering Sears.

I travel through Walton on my way to the Deleware river for some of the best trout fishing in the east.
Sorry to say that you are out of our service area.
I wish you all the best.

It's a small world. Yes trout town USA is in Rosco 25 miles from here. The veiws are awesome up here and it's the main reason that we chose this place for our retirement. Only one thing wrong is you can't get work done when needed. If we don't have a new furnace by next fishing season maybe you can combine work and pleasure and stop by Free room and board as a bonus!

DEAL!!!
But I sure hope you do not have to wait that long.
Best of luck!
