Banging Pipes in Steam system

Replaced original boiler (oil) in a 1925 home and switched to gas boiler. Original boiler had minimal or no noise. New 'energy efficient' gas boiler system is producing a lot of very loud water hammering in specific areas. What happened in the transition to cause this?

    Ferret out the steam

Either poor near boiler piping allowing wet steam to leave the boiler room or the boiler water level altitude was lowered, thus uncovering previously wet returns to inquisitive steam.

Those are the two first things that popped to my mind

    Guys, I think

it's time to call in a pro. Try the Find a Professional page of this site- it has plenty of good steam men on it.

If either of you is in the Baltimore area, contact me.
