Locating Radiators

I need the assitance from my fellow Wallies. We have a project that we are working on and one of the existing radiators is cracked. We have been unsuccessful in locating a radiator to match esthetically and size wise.

The rad is 20" Ht. x 26-3/4" Wide x 5" Deep. (001125a)

Another similar rad in the same area.(001126a)

And no the paint job is not original. The other ones in the house are either painted white or original gray.

Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Zeb!

    You like?

    Hey Mike!

Yeah they had a pro faux paint expert come in. The room is all paneling that they tried to match.

    See ya - Jim

    Of course I like!

I have to try something similar with a tube-type radiator for my [to be] cherry paneled library. Utterly refuse to cover as that's the big rad that greets you with radiant coziness when you walk in the front door.

To me the only good thing about traditional gold or silver rads is that both are non-colors that sort of "go" with anything--or is that "go" with nothing besides the hall of mirrors at Versailles?

    Hah

That's hilarious! Don't forget about the gold rope curtain ties. Do you know if the emissivity is greater or less when this technique is used?

"Silver" still relies on aluminum which DOES significantly decrease emissivity.

Modern "gold" is mica-based--it used to be bronze. See Dan's great discussion on old versus new "bronzing" in "Hot Tech Topics".

    Recessed radiators

This looks like the Burnham Sunrad radiators that I have in my house. I know that they are still available.

If in Bklyn N.Y. try the Plumbing store on the corner of 59St and Fort Hamilton Pkwy. They are $8.00 per section make in China. The convectors are there in all sizes pick the one you want. JBee
