I looked all over that site for historical data (evidentally not well enough) That's awesome!. Even gives you a Comma Seperated file you can import into excel.

Thanks Mike T.

    And I was complaining

My consumption more than doubled from the previous month. We used 52 ccf in October and 115 ccf in November. I paid 1.49/therm in October and 1.79/therm in November.

(On Edit)I looked at the spreadsheet and in September I used 28 ccf. It nearly doubled from September to October and again for October to November. I can't wait for December...

    Cape Girardeau, MO

    3,400 sf; 91 mbh input

    Nov 1 to Dec 2, 2004: 111 therms, $140.66; 490 degree days.

    Nov 1 to Dec 4, 2005: 53 therms; $92.55; 589 degree days.

30% increase in gas price, 17% increase in degree days, 52% decrease in total gas consumed.

GENERAL setback of 5°-6°F compared to last year. No daily setback (either year). Am working to optimize the heating curve of the Vitodens.

Gas use includes stand-alone domestic water heater with 15 ccf average monthly consumption.

So... 2004: .20 therms per degree day

and 2005: .065 therms per degree day

Have used some forced air electric on cold mornings. Maybe a $10 increase in electric compared to average. Did not have boiler on for first 6 days of the period this year compared to last year but did have the electric on for those days.

I've never kept the place at a temps that most consider "warm" and am definitely doing the "Euro-cave" thing this year. Savings speak for themselves even if I don't expect such a drastic reduction next month.

Overall utility bill down $44 from last year but with colder weather. Quite comparable to the drop last year when the Vitodens was installed. Why do I expect that the utility company will be coming to see if there's something wrong...

Mike, where are you finding your HDD data? I'm having trouble getting local data. Thanks.

    Data from Weather Underground

Will I say it's perfect? No. Will I say it's reasonable? Yes.

Thanks Mike. I have looked at the data there. Do you just add it up day by day or is there a link to HDD?

Go to the "Details" and/or "History" for a given day. You'll see a "Custom" option. Click on that and you can enter a period of time.

Got it. Thanks. 43,700,000 BTU / 1134 HDD / 4150 Sq. ft. = 9.285 BTU/SF/HDD. Wait to see what happens when the new boiler goes in.

Mike I had worked out your numbers and your savings over 2004 with the DD factored in worked out to 60% reduction over the previous year. Were you running the Vito in 2004 if so... how have you reduced 60 percent less...Paul

    historical data...how.

    From their help section:

On each of our city forecast pages, underneath the current conditions, is a box titled "History and Almanac". In that box, you'll find: Detailed History. Just hit the date you're interested in, and hit GO. You can use this to find the hourly weather conditions for over 7000 cities worldwide. Times on the data are in local time for the U.S., and Greenwich Mean Time (called GMT or UTC) for the rest of the world.

Before you start settling bets with the numbers, keep in mind that the data is only archived back to 1996, and some cities are missing large sections of data. This is due to the complexity of updating and maintaining such a large database of historical conditions. However, we keep it as accurate as we can.

A new feature recently released is history data for a given week, month, or your own time frame. Just click the links: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Custom at the top of the page.

Let's say you're going on a trip or having an event. You want to know what's happened on this date(s) back in history. Well, look no further, it's now at the top of any history page. Just click the link: "Trip Planner", choose your time frame, and sit back and watch us calculate all the information for you.

Now, many people want to know the astromnical information for dates in the future. Not to worry! Just, select a date in the future, and select the GO Button. Since the weather hasn't happened, we can't show you the weather, but we can show you the sunrise/sunset/moon information.

We hope this history data is useful!

Yes, was running the Vito in 2004. 5-6 degrees of general (all-time) setback. SIGNIFICANT lowering of a reset curve that only topped at 141 degrees at 8 outside to begin with.

Had a similar reduction last year during the same period.
