Well this job is almost complete! We are having some minor issues with the GB (not putting out hot enough water. And the Wirsbo 101 is also under shooting its target?
The GB is set @ 140 degrees but only pumping out about 110 degrees?
The 101 has a target temp of 110 and only hitting 90 degrees?
Fun, Fun, Fun

Nice
Install looks great. I hopefully will have an some answers from Holland about the GB142 issue on Thursday 12-8. Thanks,0 -
Thanks Joe! Please let me know as soon as you find out. I can not get that house very warm with 110 degree hydro coils.

No we are using Wirsbo stats on all the straight radiant zones and Honeywell touch stats on the 2 stage heat and one stage cooling locations.

Excellent!
Very nice work, piping and wiring.
I have the same problem, are you using unico coils, what size are they
and what size is that GB, 24 or 30.
I wish I used a larger GB then I think my GB can come up to temp quicker.
Are you running the radiant at the same time as the HW coils?0 -
awesome
That is some mighty excellent work there ,one beautiful piece of art work and anyone would be proud of such a work of mechincal art work in there homes .You raise the bar that is beautifully layed out panel very neat awesome .one question on the left of your panel is that a sprinkler system there just wondering and did i was also see a flat heat exchanger ? Sorry i can,t help with your posted promblem but i am yet to install a gb 142 yet sorry to say there price has made it a little harder to sell in comparsion to other products but i'm waiting for the right job .Again some outstanding craftmanship which shows the pride you take in the work you perform my head bows in your presence peace clammyR.A. Nice work Jamie
Whose brand of "Propress" ballvalves are those? More affordable than the actual Propress Brand?

Thanks for the kind words!
We are actually using Unico hot-water coils also put they are separated by a flat plate heat exchanger. Therefore it would alleviate it being a flow rate through the Unico coil problem.
But everyone with the same problem that we are having have all zoned with circulators. I called Buderus today and Joe had me throttle down the inlet valve on the Buderus manifold and the boiler supply temperature went from 106 degrees to 145 degrees. Kind of makes you think that the additional pumps are somehow increasing the flow through the Buderus?
We are (trying?) to run the GB 24 at 150 degrees for the H.W.C and mixing down the radiant to 120 degrees.

Thanks Clammy!
That is the sprinkler system, they where supposed to put it on another wall but came over into our territory which didn't give us much room. We would have liked to spread that board out a little bit more. The flat plate heat exchanger is for the second floor air handler. It is a very tight house and it is going to be cold in that attic.
Paul, They are called Ciminera valves. I've never seen or priced the propress ones so have nothing to compare them too.

Possible explanation
We think the reason for the GB142 to idle at around 110 at a low firing rate is because of flow and delta T. More information is needed. We had Jamie closed down the valve on the the supply side of the GB142 pipe manifold resulting in the boiler modulating up and increasing temperature. Thank you Jamie for your efforts! We are sending your picture that you posted here to Holland along with the information gathered. Thanks0 -
If you
could only see what I watched today!
Fired up an ice cold slab AND a plate system. The GB kicked a$$~~~
BTW, the GB also feeds HW to the Unico system.

We have heard many great installations such as yours, but also have a few (3 to 5) situations like Jamie's. We are working hard to resolve these issues. Thanks0 -
A word
has been creeping into my brain that was long forgotten.
Zone Valve...
Lower flow, less electricity ...
Multi zone jobs ...
mmmmmmm

I hear ya Scott! I have a similar job but used all zone valves and we are not having a problem there.
Thanks for the compliment; I'm just trying to keep up with you and JCA.

GB
Steve Grady had us set up the 15-58fc on our first GB based upon delta T. Maybe instead of throttling the ball valve just go to #1 speed on circ to let water heat up more in the heat exchanger? I have had no control issues on any of our GB's. There are some things I want dealt with but we will talk about that in Feb when I am there in person at Buderus.
Darin0 -
Darin,
Besides throttling the ball valve I also had to put the pump on speed one to get the increase in water temp.

Beautiful work Jamie
Thanks for sharing the picture. We all can learn from the high standard you show. WW

pump speed
I also lowered speed on unit to #1. Went up a few degrees, but way short of
my dialed in temp.
I will balance the ball valve and see what happens.
I'm just curious as to why this happens only when one specific air handler
calls for heat. The other zones so far are coming up to temp (boiler) when they call.
Thanks Joe for the info, I think next time a may do a TRUE prim/sec piping
with the GB, to de-couple the GB circulator from others, what do you think?
0 -
Piping
I would ask that we continue to pipe the GB142 as we recommend and give the "engineers" a little time to evaluate the issue. If you throttle down the ball valve before the circulator on the GB142 pipe manifold be careful not to cavitate the circulator. Thanks0 -
Beuatiful work Jamie
What brand ball valves are those on the Circs? Mad Dog

GB
just took there course last week for the GB unit have you set the control to the max output of the boiler and tie the demand for fan coils to t t terminals to bring to high temps setteings0
