Why don't schools teach common sense CO awareness? It's appalling the lack of common sense in young adults/teens.They've spent their lives in front of a screen with very little real world experience. They can tell you how to format a hard drive but don't realize the hazards of products of combustion.

    I always wonder


    why the air waves are not saturated with warnings about the danger of CO BEFORE big storms hit and power is knocked out to huge numbers of people. My Google alert goes nuts EVERY time this happens.

    I was visiting a job site the other day and the GC had a gas generator operating in the new house. I asked him if he was trying to kill himself. He just never considered the danger.

    Unfortunately, there are many professionals that are just as clueless when it comes to CO. If I had a dime for each combustion appliance that I have found operating unsafely, I would have A LOT of money.

    They need to run

    They need to run a show on CO on "Myth Busters". It amazes me what my 13 yr old son picks up from this show.

    I have a customer with a portable kerosene heater non vented that can't understand why I get upset about it.

    Ignorance Epedemic

    I can understand a family from a foreign country inadvertently offing themsleves because they were just trying to stay warm, and the warnings were not printed in their native language, unfortunately, it happens.

    But the rest of these people... Don't people bother to read the warning instructions on appliances any more?

    CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE. CERTAIN DEATH WILL RESULT.
