if it does nothing, not even break the air waves in the teeniest way, i bet there's an electrical issue, like no power or a transformer. You may need to become an instant service technician or get the phone book out.

Just came home from work and came in the house and it is 60 degrees in here. I checked the boiler to make sure the water level was OK, check the thermosatat to make sure it was set properly, and I replaced the batteries. I also turned off the heating system like the manual stated and let the gas clear out and then turn it back on. No use the furnace will not kick on. What other trouble shooting steps should I take before I call in a professional.

Is the boiler a standing pilot type or spark ignition?

    still any number of stuff

    does it try to light.

does it just sit and do nothing

does it have a motorized vent damper

is gas in the rest of the house working

does it start to light and then go off

could be clogged pig tail to pressure switch, lwc sticking
bad sensor, bad board, bad ignitor, bad motorised vent damper, bad t stat, spill or vent hood switch tripped, fuse blown, bad gas valve etc.
