I am no longer an Uponorian and have decided that I really am not interested in being anyones employee again so I have decide to try to make it on my own. I am interested in working on technical literature, product development, training packages and training, and commercial radiant cooling and heating sales and support.
While at Uponor I was responcible for the development of the propanels, did the lions share of the work on the applications drawings manual for the pro series controls, helped to create the field tech support program, and spearheaded thier efforts in radiant cooling and commercial systems. I am also heavily involved in ASHRAE and thier efforts to further the use of radiant cooling.
Anyone interested can reach me via email or at 631-537-5790

Uponor's loss for sure. You've been a major boon to them for quite awhile Tim, and if they don't know that already, they soon will.
Best of luck to you Tim and I doubt there is much we could offer in the way of help, but if there is ever anything, don't be shy.
I'll note that a book about practical radiant cooling design considerations and installation practices could be very interesting... cough cough0 -
Thanks
Thanks for the kind words Rob. We have had some great conversations over the past few years. If I can ever be of service you now where to find me.
Mr. Bean has been bugging me to start writing more for a while now. Maybe the time is right. Radiant cooling has been my favorite topic for about three years now and I have collected tons of data. Who knows?0 -
a big loss for Uponor
Tim,
I have no doubt that you will find good success in your new directions. The radiant cooling projects you mentioned the other day at the plant sounded very interesting, to say the least. It was nice to bump into you while Greg was showing me around and bending my ear.
The best to you for your future.

put me down for your
first edition print. It'll go next to my other treasured literature. If you haven't read it yet, this article was coauthored with Tim Doran, Dr. Simmonds and Dr. Olesen.

Hole in the Boat
Tim, is the boat sinking? With you leaving they have a big hole to fix. Who I'm going to call now that I can trust to help me fast? Make sure you let me know where you land.
I will send you pictures of the first snow storm so you can see the system that we designed at Taco working.
If you ever need anything give me a call!0 -

The smart money...
will be getting you on board, but I'll wager they'd best move quickly!
As an observer at the AHR ASHRAE committee meeting, you left an indellible impression on me as one of the most astute and intelligent people in this industry.
Give me a holler if I can help in any way.0 -
That will be one BIG set of shoes to fill...
And knowing Uponor, they will fill it in time, but not with the same quality of human beingness.
Good luck in your new adventure, and if theres anything I can do to help further it, please feel free to contact me.

You've been a good friend and a great colleague over the years. I'll never forget, and can never repay, the help and support you gave me during some tough times a few years back. I've learned an awful lot from you over the years. Thank you very much.
Let's stay in touch. My guess is we have LOTS to talk about.

I never even got a chance to have you designe a system for me:(
however , if you are going to publish a book...^^ on Radiant heating and cooling...and you might from time to time try a paragraph out on Heating Help.com and Healthyheating.com well now i better MAKE a chance
i really enjoy the speed at which you relate everything when asked a question...for a fact you are really good at relating the minor technicalities...i Know you will continue to do well,to me it is a loss for wirsbo to have a chunk of its strength and talent going forward to serve this aspect of the field of Hydronics...
i can see new radiant cooling systems going in all over the world...it is a perfect method of ameliorating our environment..call me a dreamer..i wanted wirsbo to do something along that line and gave up writing down what i thought Tekmar should focus upon...the new Honeywell control has some very sharp features as does the new thermostats that "go with it"...
well Best of Luck and keep up the good work...
by the way, i have been chirping up radiant cooling to anyone and everyone down under who will or wont listen :)soon as i get some more words in Chinese you will have to print the book in multiple languages....

Thank you all
Your kind words and encouragement mean a lot to me. One of the best aspects of working for a major manufacturer was the oportunity to meet all sorts of great people like yourselves. I can not even start to count all of the wonderful friends I have made over the past few years. I will keep in touch for sure and now that I am self employed I can participate on the Wall more freely.
John Barba, I don't know what to say. We have had some very thought provoking conversations for sure and I too have learned volumes from you. You always had the ability to see the "other" side of things and that has huge value and really helped us to do some pretty awsome things. Keep up the great work and we'll talk soon for certain.
If I can every help any of you in any way you know where to find me.

Still bugging you...
...wasn't it you who said...sometimes you have to move your decoys during the hunt...by the way a signed first edition of your "soon to be started - can't wait for it to be finished" manual would look great alongside the treasure chest of valuable literature.

Already Have Dan
Dan, you have done so much for me personally and for us all that I can hardly figure out where to start. Heck, you even fix my posts when I mis-spell or fat finger on a word or two. You've become a wonderful friend and have helped me to make many really wonderful friends. You have taught me a lot about compassion and caring, your lectures and books helped inspire me to begin learning even after I "knew it all". So the way I see it you have already helped me by giving me the tools and the support network that will help me get through this change. Thank You!!!!!

Bird cage
Might not be worth linning your bird cage floor with! I am thinking about a "real world hydronics" sort of thing to get started. What are the fundamental things that everyone should know to get things done right and to make a real living? I am also once again thinking about panels. Maybe it's time to get on the bench with a pile of parts and see what happens? The last time went pretty well, eh? Talk to ya soon Robert and Thank You for everything over the past eight years.
