    Dan could have the elves configure a splash page warning which came up whenever you replied to something older than say six months saying "The newest post in this thread his thread is over six months old.  Unless you are posting a follow-up or a new answer to the original problem, please post a new thread with a relevant title in the most appropriate forum."
