rest of your house heated? How big are the areas? What are your electric rates? I would probably use the electric as floor warming more...notso much to actually heat the area. kpc

    electric radiant heat

    I had a second story added to my house and want to install electric radiant heat in the bathrooms just to warm the tile floors. I was just wondering what opinions anyone had on certain products. So far Warmup has caught my eye because they offer insulated cement backer board. The new subflooring is 3/4" tongue and groove plywood. Thanks for any help.

    I am currently in the throes of writing a series of articles on alternative radiant products (electric) and besides googling "electric radiant heaters", found the RPA website to be quite helpful.

    ALthough not all manufacturers are members of this organization, those that are are considered reliable inasmuch as they have taken the time to be a member of the RPA, which in and of itself does not guarantee anything, but shows intent.

    Personally, I prefer the mat type of emitter (carbon and plastic) over the series cable system. Less chances of losing your grid to inadvertent nail hits...

    To the hydronic contractor/non beliver, you too should look into these products. What better way to get people addicted to RFH than putting it into their entry foyer, or bathroom remodel project. Once addicted, you can justify the full blown costs associated with a hydronic retrofit. They will WANT the comfort of radaint heat, at almost ANY cost.

    My house is heated with forced hot air which is why I decided on electric matting for the bathrooms. I just want to take the chill off the floor.

    Take a look at ZMESH it looks to be a nice electric radiant product. It looks like the workability, and versatility of this product is quite nice. up to 12 watts a square foot output.
