Mixing w/ reset

on a boiler that is using outdoor reset will there be problems w/ overshooting? I have heard that you should not mix the two because the 3 way will not "understand" the reduced water temp therefore give too high a water supply to the panel/slab that you are trying to mix down...kpc

Your results will depend on the type of 3 way you are using. A three way thermostatic will try to maintain it's preset outlet temperature regardless of input water temperature. A proportional three way valve is flow based and can follow a source reset. Enjoy....Dan

    Keep in mind

with a 3 way thermostatic you will nee about 20 degree warmer water in the primary, or boiler loop to make them operate, and mix properly. Still my choice.

An non motorized manual 3 way ( dumb valve :) will not respond properly to changing loads. It mixes on flow only. So if it is connected to a radiant manifold with numerous telestat operators, for example, as more zones open the mixed temperature changes. A semi proportional reset, so to speak!

Just depends on your application how tightly you want to keep that temperature, and amount of control you need.
