Awesome old coal boiler in NYC

Was down in the city yesterday assisting with a large project.

Came across this beauty, just in awe of its size. Building is now on district steam. They had the original glass block sidewalk on Broadway visible from below. Pretty cool walking beneath the city in city-owned buildings

    all the doors worked perfectly, paint still looked good. Couple suspect tubes I think...

    I went to a technical high school in Boston and I can remember they had an enormous old steam boiler in the basement that had been coal fired at one time to feed that 5 story building. Sadly it got converted to a high end hotel a couple of decades ago.
