I looked at this one today, located in Potomac, MD. Thanks for the referral, Steamhead.

It was designed and installed in the 1950's by the original owner, a NASA engineer.

The wall mounted convectors had small steam-powered turbines to drive the blower wheel. The mains were black steel but just about everything else was copper, including the 1/4" condensate return lines.

Steam coils in air handlers provide heat in the newer additions.

I saw one of these in a church in Hartford, Ct over 30 years ago and is the only one I have ever seen. I think I posted about it a few years ago.

As you mentioned the one I saw was all piped in copper, had an Iron Fireman packaged steel boiler and gas burner and as I recall had some type of pressure regulator at the end of the dry return. The only thing wrong with it was the little bearings in the turbine blower wheels had dried out so the fans wouldn't turn.

OMG copper in a steam system! Oh the humanity.

Oh wait, there's no damage from it. :p

Thought you'd like it! Looking forward to the "after" pics when the gas line comes in.

043 is the relay that fires the boiler. 052 is an F&T trap.
