What is best way to vent baseray 9a connected to steam?

Does anyone have a preferred method on how to vent air from burnham 9a. Would i just use a Taco 417-3, or is there a better way? Has anyone ever drilled/tapped 1/8 between the two 3/4 taps to install a legitimate air vent? I guess I'll just expose it through the end cap top. Thanks
