A visit to Rayes Boiler in Chicago.....

I had an opportunity to visit Rayes boiler in Chicago (Skokie) to look at thier new downfired 3 pass fire tube steel boiler.  Nice friendly folks that are really excited about thier product and are listening intently to contractors aand are forging ahead with high efficiency boiler designs.  The boiler is rated at 85% efficient on gas ( about 250F stack) with an optional wet heat exchanger on the rear of the boiler to further boost efficiency.  They are currenly working on a condensing economizer for addition to the boiler to bring the complete package into the condensing range, even for steam.  The smallest boiler they  currently build is rated at 1,200,000, but they may be looking at residential designs due to the amount of interest.
